Research Data Sharing and Access Policy

The journal Cadernos do Arquivo Municipal recognises the importance of making data available for scientific progress. Access to and sharing of archived data constitute an essential resource for the scientific community, enabling the verification of published results, as well as the replication of studies and the conduct of further analyses, in accordance with the FAIR Principles.

Authors are encouraged, whenever possible, to make available the data, materials, research instruments and other elements that support the results presented in published articles, by depositing them in public open-access repositories that ensure long-term preservation. Data should be deposited in recognised repositories, such as the Open Science Framework, Zenodo or the Dataverse platform. Personal or institutional webpages are not considered valid repositories for this purpose.

Where applicable, submissions must include, in addition to the manuscript, a Data Availability Statement, provided as a separate file, identifying the dataset used and including a link to the repository where it is deposited. Public availability of data is not required at the time of submission but must be ensured by providing an active link after the article has been accepted.

In duly justified cases, the sharing of data or materials may not be possible, namely for legal, ethical or institutional reasons (such as the protection of personal data or third-party rights). In such situations, authors must inform the editorial team in the Data Availability Statement submitted at the time of submission, explaining the reasons that prevent data sharing. Whenever feasible, the conditions under which the data may be accessed should also be indicated.
